Current – Centennial Class of ’76 Endowment
To be Presented at 50th Reunion
At a special class meeting (May 2023) we voted to establish the Centennial Class of 76 Endowment Fund to provide financial support directly to students at Texas A&M University in perpetuity.
Our ultimate goal is to raise $2 million for the Centennial Class of ’76 Endowment Fund. This will include donations from current gifts of cash, stocks and real estate from our savings accounts, matching employer gifts and IRAs along with planned gifts from our estates and life insurance.
Not only is this an unprecedented, never-been-done-before-campaign taken on by our historic class., but there are unique components in place that set it apart from other endowments.
- A group of 12 of your classmates worked for several months on the design and written document. It is not a boiler-plate gift agreement.
- This is to be a CLASS gift – any and all donations are important. Full participation is the ultimate goal. It is our way to repay those who helped us when we were students by helping future and current Aggie students.
- A Gift Plan Committee (GPC) of seven (7) classmates will meet at least semi-annually to direct student awards. This ensures the current needs of students are met on an ongoing basis.
- A mentorship committee of classmates will be formed to help guide students to their highest potential.
Based on the current payout schedule, our endowment has the potential to provide a total of $76,000+ per year! The specific categories of awards (i.e., scholarships, study abroad, teacher certification, etc.) will be decided by the Gift Plan Committee; specific recipients will always be selected by Texas A&M University or Texas A&M Foundation.
Our accrued donations are already being invested by the Texas A&M Foundation as part of their $3 billion total endowment pool. The Foundation endowment is managed for long-term, sustained growth. At present, all earnings are being returned into our fund to help build the corpus more quickly and help more students, sooner. No awards have been made to date, but the goal is to have award recipients present at our 50th reunion celebration.
